Musawi & the Federal Judicial Academy conduct a Training of Trainers for Judges on Family Law (Islamabad January 2024)
From 8–10 January 2025, Musawi, in collaboration with the Federal Judicial Academy, conducted a three-day inter-provincial Training of Trainers for Judges on Family Laws in Islamabad. The workshop brought together Family Court Judges, High Court Justices, and judicial faculty from across Pakistan to enhance judicial capacity and promote a more child-sensitive and gender-responsive application of family law.
The training featured keynote addresses and high-level panel discussions led by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani (Islamabad High Court), Hon’ble Mr. Justice Jawad Hassan (Lahore High Court), Hon’ble Mr. Justice Mirza Viqas Rauf (Lahore High Court), and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Gul Hassan Tareen (Balochistan High Court) and Ms. Jazeela Aslam, (Additional District and Sessions Judge). The sessions emphasized child participation, judicial empathy, and structural reforms to improve access to justice for families, particularly women and children.
International experts Dr. Zarizana Abdul Aziz (Director, Due Diligence Project, U.S.) and Mr. Hamid M. Khan (Lecturer of Islamic law at the University of Michigan Law School) contributed global perspectives on family law reform and shared comparative insights on improving the protection of rights in family court systems.
Thirty female judges from across Pakistan participated in the training and were awarded certificates at the closing ceremony. In her concluding remarks, Musawi CEO Fatima Yasmin Bokhari emphasized that Family Court Judges play a pivotal role in shaping how litigants—especially marginalized women and children—experience law and justice in Pakistan.
